Jane Inc.

Jane Inc is the solo project of singer-songwriter, guitarist, multi-instrumentalist Carlyn Bezic, who has been active in and around a couple other Toronto-based bands before, including Darlene Shrugg and Ice Cream. Her music is fairly dance pop oriented as a solo artist, especially in her first album. Her 2022 release, Faster Than I Can Take, on the other hand, finds her stretching towards a more variety of styles. Some of the songs are at the artsier edges of indie pop, as she has fun with bossa nova, takes on soft rock, and so on. She focuses on strong grooves and embraces the classic disco sound. She also tips her hat towards the fuzzy, dirty, late '60s vintage guitar sound, which may not jump out at the listener initially among all the dance action going on.
