Jaguar Jonze is the stage name adopted by Deena Lynch, a singer-songwriter whose indie pop occasionally crosses into indie rock. Her songs are usually at the mid tempo range where she broods with her low-key mumbly singing style against her sharp, tense arrangements and slick rhythmic elements, except when she hits the chorus, everything kicks into a higher gear and she lets go. Her songs are clear and compelling, melodically strong, and certainly not on the bright and sunny side emotionally. Her arrangements are often centered around well-executed rock ideas, but she also plays around with different elements: there are quite a few electronic/techno themes, and a blend of industrial and trip-hop ideas. Her strong visual sense as a photographer comes across very clearly in her videos.
