Ill Considered is a London based jazz band that produces their music primarily through group improvisation. They are currently a trio of saxophone (Idris Rahman), bass (Liran Donin, replacing Leon Brichard), and drums (Emre Ramazanoğlu), but up until 2021, they were a quartet with percussionist Satin Singh in the line-up as well. Their music is groove oriented and makes use of repetition quite a bit while Rahman's soulful sax works out the melodic elements, in dialog with the bass and the drums. They have been a highly prolific group whose work has typically been based directly on improvisational sessions. Their tenth album, Liminal Space (2021) is the first time the band released an album with additional studio recording. Their music has consistently benefited from their powerful performances, quality musicianship, and a sense of exploration as the band incorporates North and West African beats and textures to their music.
