Iceage is an indie rock band that makes high tempo, energetic, and fairly punk-centric music. As their songwriting continued to mature over the decade, they began to warm up to the idea to occasionally downshifting to mid tempo, and opening up to other instruments, such as a horn section, acoustic guitars, and a piano, etc. Their core still remains a harsh one though, except the band now executes it with better awareness and for its sonic value, as opposed to their earlier, scrappy underdog days. The band plays in a style that tacks closely to the usual indie rock format. Something in the way Elias Bender Rønnenfelt's sings and the guitars play off of the rhythm section brings to mind some of Nick Cave's angrier, take-no-prisoner line of work.
