Hope

Hope is a Berlin based four-piece band that combines elements of post-punk, goth, noise rock, and electronic music and molds them into a dark and primal post-rock. Guitarist Phillip Staffa plays the noise rock angle as a halfway point between shoegaze and goth, producing an ongoing stream of distorted guitar sound half a step outside the spotlight. With no bass player in the lineup, drummer Fabian Hönes takes care of the post-punk riffs all by himself. Their music has a generally dark and foreboding tone, and it can get quite sharp and aggressive, but it is also balanced by vocalist Christine Börsch-Supan's ability to regulate the tone, cut through the noise with her delivery, and guide the dramatic momentum of the music.
