Harleighblu which is her real name, by the way (last name: Low), is a soul singer based in Nottingham, England, who pushes neo soul very strongly in the direction of alternative hip-hop. Her delivery has an eerie resemblance to the late Amy Winehouse, from the raspy nasality in her voice to her raw open-wound delivery. Her music, on the other hand, has very strong Erykah Badu vibes updated to some of the current trends in hip-hop and adjacent genres. She was more in line with the conventional soul sound and textures in her earlier work, before she began to stray over time, mostly in the context of her collaborations with Strklr, producer Bluestaeb, and ILLA J. These collaborations gave her the opportunity to explore a more modern production approach that emphasized a foundational deep bass, strong synth grooves, layered harmonics, and tighter beats.
