Half Gringa is the moniker used by indie rock artist Isabel Olive, whose music has a bit of indie folk and a touch of alt country added in there. She frequently adds a trumpet and/or a violin to her basic guitar-bass-drums set up, which creates a rich background to her music. As a singer-songwriter, she constructs her music in a way that makes the most of these instrumental textures as her calm, mid-tempo songs tend to be emotionally driven and melodically punchy. She is also quite a wordsmith and her lyrics carry some poetic weight. Her 2017 EP Gruñona had a bit more fuzz on the guitar, a little more swagger on the beat, and it had a more straightforward indie rock approach, which have since been rounded off and polished a little.
