Faerybabyy

Faerybabyy is the moniker used by singer-songwriter Payton Morse, whose affection for the mid-80s, pop-driven post-punk sound comes across clearly in her work. She pulls generously from classic bands of the era, such as The Smiths and The Cure (their pop period, specifically), with plenty of shimmer, jangle, and an upbeat tempo, all wrapped inside a strong lo-fi esthetic. Her songs tend to be earworm level catchy. She keeps them short and sweet, getting straight to the point with minimal wind-up and no lingering any further once she's done. She sings in a low register over a layer of haze, which allows her guitar work to pop out more.
