Esy Tadesse

Esy Tadesse is Etsegenet Mekonnen, the Los Angeles based Ethiopian guitarist and composer. Her previous work, released under her given name, was built on more vocal oriented conventional songs, whereas under this moniker, she puts out music that is more guitar oriented, frequently instrumental affairs, where she treats her voice as mostly another layer with an atmospheric highlight. She follows a swirly and woozy sound with noticeable jazz influences and East African tonalities, specifically, elements of traditional Ethiopian music, She has a fairly soft and melodic touch on the guitar that makes her pieces a very pleasant flow.
