Dat Garcia

Dat Garcia is a singer-songwriter whose work draws inspiration from Argentinian folk, including Andean music and cumbia, which she incorporates into her dance oriented modern electronic music. She brings in traditional instruments like hand drums and flutes along with the guitar and the accordion, all of which helps bring out an organic feel in her work. She initially used electronics for atmospheric effects in the background initially, but then gave them a bigger focal point on her second album, 2022's Las Fuerzas Almadas without sacrificing the overall warmth of her music. Feminist themes have always been central to her songs lyrically. Her melodies are crisp and immediately accessible and her spacious arrangements open up plenty of room for her rhythmic constructs and her vocals.
