Danny Denial is singer songwriter (and an underground filmmaker) who works primarily in the indie rock genre with a number of additional '90s features and a tendency to cross into other adjacent genres. There is a fair amount of punk and goth in their music, while some of their earlier work uses elements of no wave and emo as well. Their songs typically have an immediately accessible melodic core. They sing in a low register and with some vocal fry, chronicling life at the margins. The songs are also packed with quite a bit of angst and tension in the instrumentation, which is balanced to some extent with the space opened up by the arrangements that are retained even when they are pushing up the tempo and generating a layer of noise.
