Cymande
Outline
Cymande is a band that was forged in the '70s, which is exactly how they sound: a rich and satisfying stew of soul and funk, with hefty doses of African and Jamaican elements that blend right in. They were active primarily in the '70s before they split, then came back to life in the '20s, which, in turn, lead to new music in 2025's Renascence. It is an album that is a throwback to their body of work in the classic era in terms of their musical style, as well as lyrics, vocals, and instrumentation choices, all of which seems to capture the spirit of a long gone era in an amber, updated mostly in terms of production. Their music continues to be vibrant and classy, allowing a new generation of audience to tap their feet to the same beat as their counterparts did in the '70s.
