Originally from Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts, Constant Smiles is a prolific musical collective with a rotating personnel anchored by singer-songwriter Ben Jones. They have been continually releasing albums since 2011's Ultra-Violence, though their earlier work is not as available . Their style shifted quite a bit since then, and not always in a linear fashion. They explored experimental noise pieces, lo-fi folk, raw garage rock, shoegaze and more conventional indie rock streams over the years. Their sound began to tighten around 2019's Lost, as they settled on a mixture of folk and indie rock with misty and melancholic tones, leading to their current state of fairly polished sound that also embraces a pop angle over the years.
