Connie Constance is the stage name for London based artist Constance Powers, whose work is primarily grounded in indie pop with some rock overtones. Her first batch of songs were more in the pop flavored R&B ballad mold, but with 2019's English Rose she began to shed some of that and move towards a rock-centric sound. Her music comes with stark and bold arrangements that invariably add more to the songs. She has a tendency to pick up elements from various contemporary musical styles out there, but always in a way that does not muddle or crowd out her core (and catchy) melodic ideas. Every now and then, there is some Sade-like flair peeking under the surface in some of her musical phrasing, though it is not very overt. She sings with a bit of husk in her voice that gives it a distinct flavor and a lot of personality.
