Cody ChesnuTT

Cody ChesnuTT is a neo-soul singer/guitarist/songwriter who combines the essence of soul, R&B, funk, and rock into an amalgamation of an American roots musical style. He is a traditionalist at heart whose work follows some of the classic masters of soul such as Marvin Gaye and Curtis Mayfield in many ways, but he also brings in a lot of indie rock or pop elements into his music, as well as hip-hop. His songs tend to be personal and confessional in many cases, though his political convictions and social commitments are often out there in the open. ChesnuTT's first album, Headphone Masterpiece, was recorded and mixed in his bedroom before it became practically a rite a passage for musicians, is considered a genre-mixing lo-fi masterpiece for its time. His reputation as a songwriter, arranger, and performer has only grown since then.
