Chavez Cartel is a Gold Coast, Australia based band with a fairly dark and grimy alt-rock style and a blues-inspired rough and scuzzy sound at its core. They bring out the big grooves, fiery guitar work, and a pulsating bass backed by strong beats to create a loud and propulsive feel that taps into the raw power of the genre. They then top it off with the kind of gruff vocals that add to the sense of foreboding that their music projects. The combination leads to an almost goth-like texture in a lot of their songs, even though, by temperament, they are more likely to swing in the direction of hard rock with their blustering guitar licks, especially when they've turned up the heat and are going at it with their usual determination.
