The Chats

The Chats are a rambunctious, rowdy, raucous punk trio from Sunshine Coast, Australia with scrappy songs and a stripped down, lo-fi sound. From a bird's eye view, their punk has an irreverent suburban feel rather than an angry, wasted youth feel. That said, they play with focus and authenticity, and perhaps more importantly, with considerable skills underneath the deceptively slapdash presentation. The songs are melodically crisp and tuneful, and to the point: most of them happen to be below the two-minute mark. They set up the song, play a few verses, a chorus or two, and they're outta there. Nothing overworked, no overthinking. Just sheer, high energy execution, precision, a sense of irreverent fun, and an irrepressible sense of humor that permeates all their songs.
