Calder Allen

Calder Allen is a singer-songwriter whose inspiration comes from an earlier period of country music as he applies a contemporary shine on a classic sound. There is a touch of old school gruffness to his voice that is paired with a bit of slack, which turns out to be a good stylistic match for his loose and slightly rough-around-the edges delivery. His songs tend to be clean without being too neat or polished, and with overt folk relishes. They also feel remarkably lived-in and comfortable for an artist who just picked up a guitar relatively recently, during the pandemic lockdown. His presumably instinctive (and perhaps familial, see below) songwriting know-how and melodic gifts come though clearly in his work.
