Binki (typically all lower-cased to binki) is the moniker used by Baraka Ongeri, an indie rock artist whose constantly evolving sound has had a few stations along the way. In general, his music is more or less a mixture of post-punk, art pop, and new wave type groovy funky dance style. His early work explored hip-hop and electronica before he moved in a high energy post-punk direction with a stripped down sound, snappy drum-machine snare, and pulsating bass lines with a fairly active flanger pedal. Currently he is more in the pop orbit where his songs come with a bouncy feel and a bright production. His songs have well-placed hooks and well-constructed melodies that are instantly accessible.
