Bear's Den
Outline
Bear's Den is a folk rock band from London that performs laid-back, medium tempo folk with softer edges. They started out with a strong American folk feel with prominent banjo action. When the banjo player Joey Haynes left the band, the remaining members Andrew Davie and Kevin Jones began to shift towards a more relaxed sound with more overt pop leanings. Their pacing is more on the deliberate side, with measure peaks and no wild swings musically. Their songs tend to be more lyrical than melodic, connecting with the audience at an emotional level. They add a nice rolling feeling to their ballads and occasionally bring shades of '80s pop rock instrumentation, production, and vocals to the front.
Mumford & Sons, The Lumineers, The Avett Brothers, Lord Huron
