BCUC

Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness, aka BCUC for short, is an ensemble of vocalists/percussionists who create improvisational, celebratory music that is anchored around the super funky bass lines of Mosebetsi Ntsimande who tirelessly keeps chugging away. They are from Soweto in South Africa, and their work is strongly grounded in the Zulu musical traditions while it remains connected to the modern sounds of African music, including to some of the contemporary hip-hop forms that occasionally make their presence felt just below the surface. They are a dynamic and exciting band that likes to build on strong beats and layer their vocals to great effect.
