Bat for Lashes is the moniker used by Natasha Khan, and indie rock artist who writes songs that have broad sonic scope with a wide screen effect, often unfolding patiently while sitting comfortably in a mid tempo groove. She moves her songs forward in a way that every now and then bears some melodic and textural resemblance to Kate Bush's work. Her more recent music has been gravitating towards the '80s synth driven pop sound with traces of artists ranging from Cyndi Lauper to Spandau Ballet. Underneath those stylistic similarities, however, is an artist who has carved her own career path as a true original. Her albums are generally constructed around a specific story that develops with each song. Khan has recently started directing films as well, which is perhaps a natural outgrowth of her clear interest in storytelling,
