Babeheaven is an indie pop duo with Nancy Anderson on vocals and Jamie Travis on all instruments and production. They play a soul-tinged pop with strong trip-hop accents. Their music has a gentle feel guided by Anderson's calm voice, whose timbre and mannerism brings Amelia Meath (of Sylvan Esso) to mind. Travis' production is quite restrained and creates an effective amalgamation between swirly dream pop guitars, a rich synth layer that fills the background, and break heavy but also laid back drums that often drive the songs, which is where a lot of the trip-hop flavor in their work comes from. They sometimes amp up their dreaminess to Lush levels, other times they bring in a light jazzy touch. The songs often evoke some melancholy in tone, but it does not overtake the music.
