Anna of the North is Anna Lotterud, an Oslo based indie pop artist with a youthful voice, sweet and bubbly melodies, and a fairly sunny attitude. Her songs have plenty of pop hooks in them with big, upbeat pop gestures and infectious choruses. Her earlier work had a lighter touch. Her debut album in 2017, Lovers, was immersed in synth pop. She took a more restrained turn in the follow up, Dream Girl (2019), where she tacked closer to the strength of her melodies and brought in a variety of elements from various genres across the board: 70's soul syncopation, hints of doo-wop vocals, occasional jazzy instrumentation. Her current work sees her return to the wonders of synth driven music with club beats backing her songs about romantic love.
