Hatchie

Hatchie is the stage name used by singer-songwriter and guitarist Harriette Pilbeam, whose music brings dream pop elements into her otherwise mainstream contemporary pop music, which was a more prominent aspect of her work in her first album, Keepsake (2019). Her synth driven style brings to mind an artist like Sky Ferreira while the overall production seems to have a few dashes of '80s big time pop sprinkled here and there. Her songs move in a way that is fluid and loose, with a natural flow, and they are typically anchored by her somewhat hazy vocals, chimey guitars, and lively hooks. So even when she pushes the levers up and goes bigger through all the swelling synths and pouncing drums, she has the ability to bring things back down to a relatable level.
