The Album Leaf

The Album Leaf is an electronic ambient project by multi-instrumentalist composer Jimmy LaValle, who was also a member of the post-rock band Tristeza for many years. Though his studio recordings have been fairly sporadic, he is a prolific artist who has been producing a stream of soundtrack albums, whose often pensive, wide screen cinematic textures provide the template for his more current work in general. His music tends to be hypnotic and introspective, typically build on minimalistic sonic strokes. There are, however, times when he leans towards house style low tempo grooves with a gentle sway (see 2023's Future Failing). His earlier work kept a rhythmic base around a broader array of styles, including elements of post-rock sound, especially in the '00s.
