Third Eye Record is a record store in the Retro Row area of Long Beach, California. It opened in 2002 as relatively small shop, and did not grow much in size since then, having set its focus tightly on the variety and the quality of the records it carries. They typically do not have duplicates of the same record (except on Record Store Day, obviously), and what they have is a very high concentration of gems and hard to find albums, especially as used records, which are invariably in good condition. Those that that are not are in a separate bin towards the back of the store. There are very few CDs or other media in the store.
Records in a broad range of styles, including a small batch of classical albums as well.
In addition to jazz, blues, classical, and so forth, the store also has separate sections for punk, metal, post-punk, krautrock, prog, psychedelic, and others, which indicates the level of attention paid to curation of the records.
