Anti- is a record label that has been operating since 1999, originally created as a sister to Epitaph, which is focused more on the punk and post-punk styles. Anti- has developed quite an enviable list of artists and records over the years, focusing on a variety of styles. Their diverse array of artists range from Son Little to Neko Case, The Drums to Japandroids, and Man Man to Beth Orton, just to pick a few random names. As a label, they clearly have a soft spot to what may be referred as the classic American artists, having showcased the likes of Mose Allison, Solomon Burke, Booker T., Merle Haggard, Joe Henry, Mavis Staples, at different times, taken on Elliot Smith's and posthumous releases, and has become the home of Tom Waits for the last couple of decades now.
Anti- is owned by Epitaph Records, which is more specialized in punk.
