TV GIrl is an indie pop band that plays synth and loops driven bubbly music with a laid-back tempo and relaxed, lazy summer day grooves. The band makes use of some breakbeats and combines them with '60s French pop and vintage surf band type melodies. The result is often uptempo music that gives off a sense of weightlessness in the way it flows. Despite its elements, their music is not necessarily joyful or suave but it comes with a layer of melancholy underneath the catchy melodies that seems to be floating in the ether. The band is led by singer Brad Petering, who is presumably the person behind all the feelings of romantic disaffection and isolation that inhabits their work. Their more recent releases have frequently been collaborations with a series of younger artists.
