Soccer96 is the electronic artists Danalogue and Betamax, i.e., synth player Dan Leavers and drummer Max Hallett, respectively, who are probably better known for being part of The Comet is Coming, which is their side project with saxophonist Shabaka Hutchings. The duo's music is firmly anchored in electronica with strong dance friendly beats. Their pieces are usually instrumental, with occasional guest vocalists, and they frequently venture into the prog world in the way they expand their melodies or stretch their jazz muscles. Betamax provides a lot of high power and dynamism on drums. It is not as common, but they also turn inwards to produce introspective, moody pieces as well. They are known as a band that stays away from pre-recorded material in their live performances and generates their music in real time.
