Scrounge

Scrounge is a London-based indie rock duo formed by singer and guitarist Lucy Alexander and drummer Luke Cartledge that plays a passionate, scorching type of indie rock. Alexander has a mostly speak-sing style on the vocals that projects some ironic detachment and a kind of anger that ebbs and flows underneath. She takes care of the riffs, the rhythms, and the lead on her guitar with her slashing lines and the bursts she fills the room with. She provides a lot of their punk energy while Cartledge provides a lot of the body as he anchors the music with his thick, steady, and clearly articulated beats and fills. Where the duo particularly stands out is in the sharpness of their songs and their delivery even as they slide in and out of their sonic wall.
