Ryder the Eagle is a singer-songwriter who mixes indie folk and indie pop with an occasional touch of gothic Americana. He writes songs that are remarkably catchy with strong grooves and a nice, melodic flow and delivers them with his crooner-worthy smooth voice. His lyrics are tongue-in-cheek, humorous, self-deprecating, and sometimes uncomfortably candid ... or maybe it is all fictional. Either way, half the time he sounds like he is singing with a huge wink at the audience. His instrumentation stays close to conventional indie rock without any fancy arrangements. The strength of his songs are very clearly in his melodies and his music keeps the focus on them.
