Rosalía

Rosalia Vila Tobella, who professionally goes by her first name alone, is a singer-songwriter who started out as a flamenco artist from Barcelona, then began to create  an adventurous brand of pop by incorporating elements of electronic music, cumbia, salsa, and reggaeton, as well as some R&B, jazz, and hip-hop beats into her music. She was fully immersed in the classic flamenco sound in her first album, 2017's Los Angeles, showcasing her smoky, though not quite burnt, voice the genre favors so much. Her second major release, El Mal Querer (2018), was a transitional album where she expanded her horizon, adding quite a bit of versatility to her work through genre-mixing and adopting overt pop tones. Her music is idiosyncratic, rich in beats, and reflects a personal and unique point of view.
