Rogê (pronounced haw-zheh, born Roger José Cury) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, originally from Rio de Janeiro but currently living in Los Angeles. His music is grounded mostly in samba and samba-funk, though he also gets into bossa nova, especially in his collaborations with other artists. It is lively music with a lot of joyful, hip moving action as one would expect. His melodies are sharp, his production is tight, and his songs have an uplifting quality. His 2023 album Curyman is his first major release in the US and finds him merging conventionally Anglo-American pop elements with traditionally Brazilian features and instrumentation, including a lush string section that provides the background on a few tracks.
