Perel

Perel is the stage name used by producer and singer Annegret Fiedler, based in both Brooklyn and Berlin, who works mostly in the deep house style of EDM but also draws quite a bit from a slightly disco spun version of '80s synth-pop.  She has the four-on-the-floor bass drum mixed in with her synth-based riffs, short and catchy keyboard phrases, and even occasional sound effects to get the party really going. She does not shy away from taking on large scope projects, which is the case with her 2022 concept album Jesus Was an Alien, an exercise in alternative history that takes its title as its premise. It is a relatively lighter, sunnier album compared to her debut Hermetica (2018), which had less of the disco elements and travelled much deeper into the darker club sound.
