Okan is the Afro-Cuban jazz duo Elizabeth Rodriguez and Magdelys Savigne, whose music has strong Latin foundations. Savigne plays percussion while Rodriguez is a violinist whose style may be somewhat reminiscent of the work of the late great Stéphane Grappelli and the touch Roma flavors he brought to his music. The two also harmonize their vocals a great deal. Their work taps into a variety of styles in the island's rich musical landscape. On the other hand, they are also not averse to stretching out regionally and occasionally pull in bits from Brazilian music, among other genres. That said, their music is fairly well-grounded on the jazz side as well, with top notch performances incorporated into their music.
