Niecy Blues

Niecy Blues, aka Janise Robinson, is an electronic artist who uses ambient music as a canvas to create experimental textures that are anchored around an underlying R&B-type flow. The electronic component actually remains relatively muted, but then, the same can also be said about every other element of their work, which generally tends to be on the muted, melancholic, and haunting side. This is especially true when it comes to the ethereal force that is packed into their vocal layers. Rhythmic parts are also well-aligned with the overall tone in the way they keep their beats quite soft and mostly understated. When they veer towards a more conventional direction, glimpses of gospel influences begin to surface as well.
