Mujeres Podridas are an Austin-based band that pushes a frantic pace with a classic punk sound and some vintage late '70s vibes. Their music is energetic and rowdy, and often appears to be on a perpetual overdrive. The band, however, has a way of projecting a sense of fun rather than being engulfed in rage and fury. Not that they are a party-time type of punk band though, not by any stretch. There's plenty of social and political commentary in the lyrics, delivered exclusively in Spanish by vocalist Dru Molina. It is just that they do not sound like they are ready to fight you in a bar brawl. The band displays a high level of musicianship across the board, especially with their well-placed and well-executed guitar solos and licks that bear shades of old school hard rock at times.
