Masego is the moniker used by singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, genre-hopping adventurer and a man determined to make the saxophone the coolest instrument, Micah Davis. His music combines R&B, hip-hop, and jazz in a way that plays these genres against one another, letting each one do its bit and become a part of the collage. He calls his style TrapHouseJazz, and he does, on occasion, superimpose jazz lines on R&B songs built on a trap beat, checking all those boxes. His music is highly eclectic, imaginative and rich in ideas and details. The music is smooth and loose as he opens up nice breathing space for his instruments rather than cramming them together. His riffs, grooves, beats are all very well constructed, and his songs are immediately accessible.
