Maria BC (née Bobbitt-Chertock) is a singer-songwriter and a dream folk artist who writes slow, moody pieces with strong ambient qualities. Their music is driven primarily by their expressive voice as the main instrument, with some lovely guitar or organ accompaniment. The timbre of their voice and especially their delivery technique bear great similarity to Elizabeth Fraser of Cocteau Twins, a singer who casts a long shadow in the dream pop world. That would be quite a challenge ordinarily, except they are able to match her level of articulation and control. Their songs tend to be highly elegiac for the most part, as well as calm and contemplative. It is music that is intended for moments when the world has slowed down and one has taken the time to reflect.
