Margaux Bouchegnies, who goes by her first name on stage, is a singer-songwriter originally from Seattle and currently based in Brooklyn. Her music comes with folksy mid tempo guitar strumming bouncy and loose bedroom pop vibes but differentiates itself almost instantaneously with the level of sophistication she brings to the table both compositionally and how the songs unfold. Her melodies do not simply zero in on a melody and ride it to the end. She lets them grow and branch out, sometimes even get redefined by the arrangements. It is clear that she puts a lot of thought into construction and instrumentation. The result may not be earth shattering, but it makes one reach at the repeat button at the end just to go through that flow one more time. She writes lovely bridges, by the way.
