The Lovely Eggs is the duo Holly Ross (guitar, vocals) and David Blackwell (drums), who have fully embraced punk both as a musical style and as an ethos (no manager, no agent, all DIY), but also with a sense of humor that stays close to the surface. Their earlier work had more variety in style and textures, including blistering punk guitars (of course), mumbly lo-fi acoustic pieces, bright bursts of pure pop, and playful interludes that get a little confusing if you thought about them too much. They gradually gravitated towards a punk-centered jagged sound that incorporates hard rock elements and occasionally tips its hat to psychedelia without dwelling too much on it. Ross is a powerhouse performer on the guitar and the vocals while Blackwell lays out some solid beats. They are band with sharp opinions to go with their sharp sound. Oh ... and also they are not big fans of fake encores.
