The Lovely Eggs

The Lovely Eggs are the duo Holly Ross (guitar, vocals) and David Blackwell (drums), who have fully embraced punk both as a musical style and as an ethos (no manager, no agent, all DIY), but also with a sense of humor that stays close to the surface. Their earlier work had more variety in style and textures, including blistering punk guitars (of course), mumbly lo-fi acoustic pieces, bright bursts of pure pop, and playful interludes that get a little confusing if you thought about them too much. They gradually gravitated towards a punk-centered jagged sound that incorporates hard rock elements and occasionally tips its hat to psychedelia without dwelling too much on it. Ross is a powerhouse performer on the guitar and the vocals, while Blackwell lays out some solid beats. They are a band with sharp opinions to go with their sharp sound. Oh ... and also they are not big fans of fake encores.
