Laurel Halo

Laurel Halo (aka Laurel Chartow) is an electronic artist who has had her hands in a few buckets in the genre, whether it is electropop, techno, ambient, experimental, or avant-garde. There are also some jazz and modernist classical elements that she pulls into her work as well. Her career took her through major hubs for the genre, from Detroit to Berlin to NYC to Los Angeles, where she was able to flex different muscles at each station. She began to align more closely with minimalist ambient motifs in the '20s, often with modernist underpinnings. Her film score for Possession (2020) and 2025 album Atlas often take their time to set the mood and create a tonal blend, while also expressing a heightened sense of discomfort and foreboding.
