La Femme
Outline
La Femme is a highly eclectic pop band whose relatively flexible lineup is led by guitarist Sacha Got and keyboardist Marlon Magné. They draw inspiration from a wide range of sources: techno, synth pop, disco, psychedelia, surf rock, Morricone style twangy guitar, and classic French yé-yé music, for starters. There is a good amount of stylistic variety to their songs, but they are quite consistent with respect to their texture, which in a way is the core of the Le Femme sound. The songs always enjoy a strong beat, whether purely on drums or backed by the synths. There is an unmistakable Stereolab style coolness, perhaps even some aloofness to the way they play, which is another characteristic of their music. Vocalists Magné and Clémence Quelennec sing almost exclusively in French.
