Jawbox

Jawbox is a rock band founded in1989 disbanded in 1997, and then reunited in 2019.  They are one of the better known post-hardcore bands of their era, coming out of Washington, DC, a city that also happens to be a well-known hardcore hub at the time. Their music is loud and fast, but it also allows for gear shifts, stops and starts, and quiet/loud dynamics to play out in the course of a song. The bands have a very effective drum and bass pairing between Barocas and Coletta, also providing a solid foundation for Robbins and Barbot to use that space with their guitars. The songs are not particularly melodic or groovy, but they are versatile and strong in the riff department.
