India Ramey is a country singer-songwriter based in Nashville whose music draws elements from a variety of styles: the honky tonk, dancehall, the train beat, the whole Ennio Morricone tremolo on the guitar, and quite a bit of southern gothic along the way. She has a big, powerful voice that has been compared to early Neko Case, not unjustifiably, which she places right up and center in her songs. She also keeps the electric guitar fairly prominent, especially when her songs start getting dark and she brings out that dirty reverb, which is never quite too far from the surface, even when it is sandwiched between the more country style twangy guitar in the traditionally leaning songs and the acoustic pieces. Lyrically, she wears her sense of foreboding on her sleeves, as well as where she stands with respect to a world gone mad.
