Hippie Love Party

Hippie Love Party is an indie rock band based in Virginia Beach whose music has a raw, lo-fi feel that combines math rock and Midwest emo with a grungy edge. The band does not rely on the vocals to drive the songs and uses them somewhat incidentally, to add more body to their music as they harmonize or spike up to a screaming mode as needed. Their music is driven primarily by the guitar, which tends to alternate between rapid math style arpeggiation and classic grungy indie rock mode. It is often on the loud side, but also drifts into the sweeter alt-rock territories on occasion. The drums are pretty active on these shifts in the dynamic while the bass keeps the band anchored. The songs may not quite be singalongs but they come with good hooks.
