Giveton Gelin is a trumpet player originally from the Bahamas who plays mostly in the traditionally oriented post-bop style of jazz, typically with his quintet. He has a smooth and clear articulation that may be reminiscent of classic artists like Freddie Hubbard. His pieces tend to be relaxed and mellow, often bringing out a nice swing, though, he also explores a more spiritual sound at times. He is a product of the Juilliard School of music and was mentored by the late great Roy Hargrove. He has ben regarded as one of the up and coming figures in contemporary jazz, having received a number of awards along the way.
