Giveton Gelin

Giveton Gelin is a trumpet player originally from the Bahamas who plays mostly in the traditionally oriented post-bop style of jazz, typically with his quintet. He has a smooth and clear articulation that may be reminiscent of classic artists like Freddie Hubbard. His pieces tend to be relaxed and mellow, often bringing out a nice swing, though, he also explores a more spiritual sound at times. He is a product of the Juilliard School of music and was mentored by the late great Roy Hargrove. He has been regarded as one of the up-and-coming figures in contemporary jazz, having received a number of awards along the way.
