Fly Anakin

Fly Anakin is Frank Walton, a Richmond, Virginia based hip-hop artist, rapper and producer who is also one of the members of the city's Mutant Academy collective. His music typically creates a contrast between his relatively relaxed beats sitting underneath chill R&B samples on the one hand and his tightly wound delivery pushing up the tension on the other. The combination of his smoky voice and rapid articulation adds more urgency to his music. His arrangements tend towards natural simplicity, though smooth jazz is also a part of the equation. He has had a fairly productive partnership with his fellow hip-hop adventurer Pink Siifu in the past few years that has led to a couple of strong albums.
