Fire!

Fire! is a Stockhom based band that brings together musicians from three remarkable bands:  Mats Gustafsson on sax, Johan Berthling on bass, and Andreas Werlin on drums (from The Thing, Tape, and Wildbirds & Peacedrums, respectively). The result is a fascinating and a remarkably well-aligned marriage of improvisational Nordic jazz and drone-powered of post-rock that leads to swelling hypnotic riffs with tense, dissonant leads that are teetering at the edge of noise. They had the psychedelic meets spiritual jazz flavor with a touch of noise feature more prominently early on, which they gradually moved away from as they began to shift towards their current sound on 2021's Defeat. That said, their catalog is filled with captivating music backed by top-notch musicianship that goes back to their beginning in 2009.
